Flight operations have restarted at Edinburgh Airport after a significant technical issue at the control tower halted all operations.

A number of travelers reported being stuck in planes on the runway while the issue persisted.

Flights Resume with Continued Disruption

Officials announced at 10:40 that operations had restarted, and expressed gratitude to passengers for their "understanding and cooperation".

However, ongoing issues are anticipated to affect schedules. Flights to London Gatwick, Bristol, Amsterdam and Frankfurt have been cancelled, with many others subject to postponements.

An airport representative had previously estimated that 27 departures and 11 arrivals could be impacted.

"Flyers are asked to contact their airlines for the latest information on their booked journeys," was the consistent advice.

Cause of the Chaos

The problem was traced to the widespread suspension to an technical fault with its air traffic control provider.

Passengers continue to be advised to verify the schedule of their flight before heading to the terminal as residual delays are managed.
