New England Match Best Victory Run From Brady Years with Triumph Over Jets
Rookie Henderson has recorded five scores during the current campaign
New England tied their best victory streak since the Brady era as they beat AFC East opponents the Jets by 13 points in the NFL
Rookie Henderson shone brightly with three touchdowns as the Patriots secured an eight-game winning streak for the first time since star signal-caller Tom Brady's final season with the franchise in 2019
QB Drake Maye passed for 281 yards and a score, completing 25 passes from 34 throws
Victory bolsters the New England's advantage at the top of the division as they improved to nine wins and two defeats, with the Jets bottom after dropping to a 2-8 mark
The Jets had taken the lead at their home field with quarterback Fields rushing for a short rushing score to finish the New York's initial series
But the Patriots responded in the second quarter as the rookie ran in two seven-yard touchdowns before the running back hauled in a throw from Maye at the back of the endzone halfway into the third quarter to make it 21 to 7
"It was a crucial moment for him delivering, and it's been excellent for him to keep getting these reps," Maye said of the rookie. "He desires to be excellent."
Fields threw to John Metchie in the latter part of the third quarter to close the gap for the Jets but Borregales converted a pair of field goals in the final period as the Patriots sealed the victory
