'Living a Nightmare': Families of Unaccounted For Teens Await Answers After Ski Resort Inferno

16-year-old Swiss teenager a young man from Switzerland is one of those unaccounted for.

The relatives of young people lost after a devastating blaze at a venue in a Swiss ski resort are enduring an excruciating wait for official news and requesting any details about their children publicly.

The inferno ripped through the Le Constellation bar in the alpine resort, located in the Alps of the Valais region, in the early hours of January 1st. Circulated video reveal the roof structure catching alight as bottles with sparklers are held aloft.

Authorities have stated that it could take considerable time to identify the victims of the disaster, which killed 40 people and wounded another 119. Authorities noted on Friday that the majority of the injured have been accounted for, with work ongoing to name the other six.

In the waiting period, relatives have been posting on online platforms to appeal for any news about their friends who were in attendance that night.

Appeals for the Unaccounted For

The whereabouts of teenager from Switzerland Arthur Brodard, sixteen, are not yet determined, according to an appeal from his family.

The resident of Lutry near the city, told a local newspaper that she had returned to the city to see if he was in the hospital, while his other parent did the equivalent search in Bern, but was unsuccessful.

"It feels like a terrible dream, an ordeal. The options are finding my son in the morgue, or I find him in intensive care. Words cannot describe it," she told the paper.

She continued that some of his friends had been located with injuries covering a significant portion of their bodies. "It's unspeakable; they experienced an absolute nightmare."

The Italian government has said that six of its young people are still unaccounted for.

Junior golfer Emanuele Galeppini, 16, was last heard from around the turn of the new year on New Year's Eve, according to.

Included in that group is Emanuele Galeppini, a teenage junior golfer, originally from Genoa but now residing in Dubai.

The national sporting body has said that he is deceased, without mentioning the tragedy, paying tribute to a "young athlete who embodied dedication and true sportsmanship."

His parent, reportedly stated that his son was at the bar and was last in contact around the new year. An official spokesperson has clarified that a formal confirmation of his death is awaited.

Other Cases

Giovanni Tamburi, 16, is likewise among the missing. His mother explained that he had been on vacation but had ventured out with friends and found himself at the bar.

"Someone with him said they ran away after the fire erupted and that he had his phone with him, but then at a certain point he they were separated," she said, adding he had been wearing a identifiable gold chain.

One of his educators commented, "He was known for his kindness and smile, coupled with great responsibility. He would frequently ask if help out."

Alice Kallergis, who holds dual Swiss and Greek citizenship but lives permanently in the country, was also at the bar on New Year's Eve, according to sources.

Her brother has posted an appeal online, saying the relatives has had "no news" regarding the teenager or the group she was with, who are also unaccounted for.

Consular authorities from her country of origin say they are actively engaged with the situation.
