Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement Wednesday night confirming they are aware of claims of abuse made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player the athlete and had been in contact with the NFL.

The team did not mention Rice specifically in their announcement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice by name, posted a set of images on social media that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the person involved was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable

No police reports were available in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles

The receiver missed the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people injured. Rice was given 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

On the field, he concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
